This Red Stoneware gives the potter a red firing clay at stoneware temperatures in an oxidised firing. A medium textured body, it is excellent for throwing and hand building and its excellent plastic strength enables it to also be used for making large pieces. It can also be used as a raku clay. In addition to outstanding plasticity the grog addition gives it good resistance to warping, cracking and thermal shock. At 1100 - 1180°C it produces a brick red colour. Increasing the temperature to 1220-1260°C the colour darkens to a rich reddish brown.
