These spurs are made from stainless steel and can withstand temperatures up to 1250°C (depending on load). This type of stilt will last longer than ceramic stilts.
Note: Although completely metal stilts will withstand the high temperatures, the metal will soften, therefore the weight of the piece placed on the stilt has to be considered. Also most clays should not be stilted at high temperatures. As the clay is nearing or enduring vitrification, stilting could cause the clay to warp. Smooth clays or clay such as porcelain are almost certain to warp. Clays that are highly grogged such as Craft Crank may withstand stilting, but we would always recommend a test first.
